Carrier oils are an essential part of any cosmetic or soaping formula. Although there are many types of carrier oils, they are all naturally based from the fatty portion of a plant, usually from the seeds, nuts, or kernels.. There are 2 categories of carrier oils. You have refined and unrefined. The only difference in the two are the process in which they go through to get the final oil. Unrefined carrier oils, also known as cold pressed, keeps the natural aromas and nutrients. Refined carrier oils goes through a heated process in which removed the scent, gives it a longer shelf life, and removes most of the skin loving nutrients.
